I would work hard every minute
Put all my effort in it,
… I’d work just like a dog.
With my head, I'd be thinkin’
Be as honest as Abe Lincoln
If I only had a job!
I'd unravel ev'ry problem
For anyone who’s got ‘em
The humble or the snob.
I would be there plenty early
Never gripe and never surly,
If I only had a job!
Oh, I could tell you why
The company means more,
I could work at things I’ve never done before
Then take a break… and work some more.
I would not be just a staffer
Behind my boss a laugher
A slacker and a slob.
I would not be a doubter
No more be a down-and-outer
If I only had a job!
